How much does an accountant cost for a self-employed person in Switzerland?

What accounting records must my sole proprietorship keep?

A sole proprietorship with turnover below CHF 500,000 in the previous financial year must at least keep records of income, expenses and assets. At CHF 500,000 or above, full accounting is required under the Swiss Code of Obligations. We help define the arrangements suited to your circumstances. How do I know whether my business must register for VAT?

The general threshold is CHF 100,000 of relevant annual turnover worldwide from supplies that are not exempt without credit. Are year-end closing and the tax return included?

Year-end closing and annual financial statements are included in both plans, with or without VAT management. The tax return is not included: its scope and fees are set out separately in the proposal. You know the included services and fees before committing.

Can I hand over my accounts during the year?

Yes, whether you currently keep your own accounts or work with another accounting firm. We review the available records, latest accounts and upcoming deadlines. With your authorisation, we organise the handover while taking your existing provider’s contract into account. Any catch-up work is specified in the quote.

Which documents should I send each month?

Your sales and purchase invoices, expense receipts, bank and card statements, and information about cash receipts where relevant. We agree how you will share documents when we start and let you know if anything is missing. Monthly updates rely on the records you provide.

Do I need to change my accounting software?

We review your software and working arrangements before recommending suitable tools. A quoting and QR invoicing tool is included in our plans. Any migrations or integrations are defined in the proposal and are not automatically included.
